Fees and Rebates

Rebates

Medicare rebates are available for the treatment of a range of mental health issues. Your GP or psychiatrist will assess whether or not you are eligible for either a Mental Health Care Plan (for a range of mental health difficulties) or an Eating Disorder Treatment Plan (for eating disorders only). They base their decision on a detailed mental health assessment. You will need to book in a longer session with your GP or psychiatrist to enable time for this.

Mental Heath Care Plan rebates are available for up to 10 consultations in a calendar year with a registered psychologist and Eating Disorder Treatment Plan rebates are available for up to 40 consultations in a calendar year with a registered psychologist, with an additional 20 consultations with a dietician.

Rebates may also be available through your private health insurer, or alternatively you can pay the full-fee.

Important points

  • You do not need a GP referral to make an appointment with Caroline (but it is a requirement if you would like to claim the Medicare rebate)

  • If you do have a referral (Mental Health Treatment Plan or Eating Disorder Treatment Plan), please bring it with you as well as your Medicare card to your first session

  • Individuals who are on a self-managed care plan with the NDIS can access psychology services. Rebates are determined by the NDIS and may cover the full or partial cost of the appointment

  • To enquire about Caroline’s consultation fees, please contact Wattletree Psychology on (03) 9500 0455.
